Both have passed, as you know. Both greatness. Out of respect, I will obviously mention them here. But good Lord people, if you need me to inform you of either, call me for one-on-one current events sessions (at a meager hourly rate).

Animal House

Did you know, none of the guys in Delta Tau Chi (Delta House) were actually in a fraternity in college? As John Belushi once said, most of the over-the-top attitude was from the guys imagining what it was like in those 70's houses. In fact, a ton of the antics in the movie were improv'ed. From the food fight, to the chugging of the bottle of Jack Daniels, to Belushi on the ladder outside the sorority house, all done on-the-fly. And all, freaking awesome.

- A little tidbit for you. The movie originated from National Lampoon. A comedy magazine that floated around most college campuses in the 70's, and as most of you know, turned into a mind-boggling amount of National Lampoon's movies (recent ones being coveted straight-to-DVD releases).

Stay Informed Dallas

Well, against my good sense, I am creating a current events blog. I say that because I am obsessed with current events. Obsessed. I try to hide my obsession from most people, but those who know me closely, know that it runs my life. It has gotten to the point where some of my friends simply rely on me for current events, and shun the news sites. My own girlfriend questioned in the past, how I was going to visit her abroad, without being wired in to it all (fortunately the blackberry is a world phone). At any rate, I believe everyone should be informed. I feel it is at least a moderate display of intelligence and civility when one can carry on a decent conversation regarding worldly events. So much happens outside the walls of each of our lives that, to me, it is a sign of respect (to individuals, cultures, contemporaries, etc.) to know what is happening.

All that being said, what's the point of this blog?

• To provide short, accurate updates about our world, with a little commentary from yours truly.
  
• To inform people of the world outside their normal routine
• And perhaps, to provide a medium for those who do not care, to care just a bit

Do I expect this blog to be heavily followed? No.
Do I think I can cover everything that goes on? No.
Will this be all news? No, I consider entertainment to be pertinent as well (see first post).
Am I going to inundate you with pedantic writing? This intro. post will probably be the most formal I am going to get.
How long will my posts be? I'm guessing a paragraph or so. Not trying to beat you guys over the head with obscure names or dates.

I just hope to inform folks through small, entertaining, intriguing posts.
